Striped patterns in radially driven suspensions with open boundaries

چکیده

We study the motion of radially driven fluid-immersed particles in a novel Hele-Shaw cell with open boundaries. The initially uniform suspension forms striped pattern within specific range horizontal oscillation frequencies and for sufficiently large amplitudes. observe that initial coarsening dynamics stripes gradually slows down reaches steady state after few minutes. distance between exhibits an exponentially saturating increase increased amplitude or frequency. width decreases as power-law frequency while its dependence follows logistic function. propose mechanism -- based on interplay shear stress, hydrodynamic interactions, frictional forces to link structural characteristics properties oscillatory external drive.

Renormalized field theory and particle density profile in driven diffusive systems with open boundaries.

Renormalized field theory and particle density profile in driven diffusive systems with open boundaries Abstract We investigate the density profile in a driven diffusive system caused by a plane particle source perpendicular to the driving force. Focussing on the case of critical bulk density ¯ c we use a field theoretic renormalization group approach to calculate the density c(z) as a function...

Phase diagram of one-dimensional driven lattice gases with open boundaries

We consider the asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) with open boundaries and other driven stochastic lattice gases of particles entering, hopping and leaving a onedimensional lattice. The long-term system dynamics, stationary states, and the nature of phase transitions between steady states can be understood in terms of the interplay of two characteristic velocities, the collective veloc...

Evaporation and coarsening dynamics with open boundaries

Phase separation in binary systems is an interesting example of pattern formation in nonequilibrium systems @1–8#. The system, placed in an unstable state, evolves spontaneously towards the equilibrium by generating domains rich in each of the two components. When the volume fraction of one of the components is sufficiently small, the domains of the minority phase coarsen to form circular domai...

Zn elliptic Gaudin model with open boundaries

The Zn elliptic Gaudin model with integrable boundaries specified by generic nondiagonal K-matrices with n+ 1 free boundary parameters is studied. The commuting families of Gaudin operators are diagonalized by the algebraic Bethe ansatz method. The eigenvalues and the corresponding Bethe ansatz equations are obtained. Radially Symmetric Patterns of Reaction-Diffusion Systems

In this paper, bifurcations of stationary and time-periodic solutions to reactiondiffusion systems are studied. We develop a center-manifold and normal form theory for radial dynamics which allows for a complete description of radially symmetric patterns. In particular, we show the existence of localized pulses near saddle-nodes, critical Gibbs kernels in the cusp, focus patterns in Turing inst...
